When my youngest daughter was born, I wanted to make a rainbow quilt for her nursery. I started choosing fabrics, but couldn't decide on a color palette because there were so many options that I fell in love with. What was a gal to do but design a pattern where I could include all of the colors!
I'm so excited to introduce you to Rainbow Hues, a pattern that lets you make a quilt that is vibrant, joyful, and use all the colors you could want!

A Rainbow of Colors
I used Paintbrush Studio Painter's Palette Solids to bring this rainbow quilt to life! And a special shoutout to HollyAnne of String & Story for carrying all of these beautiful colors in her shop!

Here's a list of the PBS fabrics used in the cover version along with comparable alternatives of Kona and Art Gallery Fabrics. You can find corresponding fabric swatches below.

Get to Know the 2 Colorway Options
Cover Version: this version uses either 1/4 yards or fat quarters for each color and every color is used once.
Color Repeat Version: this version uses 1/2 yards and each color is used twice.
I intentionally made the fabric requirements the same within each version so that you could play around with fabric placement and the order of the colors without having to worry about differing fabric requirements for different colors.

Fabric Requirements
Here are the fabric requirements for Rainbow Hues so you can plan your own project!

Make a Digital Mockup on PreQuilt
I have all of the sizes and colorways of the Rainbow Hues quilt uploaded on PreQuilt, a free quilt mock up tool. You can find it here.
Snag a Quilt Kit
Quilt kits take the guesswork out of fabric selection while still letting you create something stunning. Whether it’s a rainbow, a gradient, or a unique color story curated by someone with a great eye, kits can save time and spark ideas you may not have thought of on your own.
Plus, it’s a great way to support small business fabric shops — they do so much of the behind-the-scenes magic in this quilting world. You can find some wonderful shops below that are offering Rainbow Hues quilt kits. Your future self will thank you when you get to skip straight to the fun part: sewing!
Color Repeat Version: AGF Wildflower Wovens
I made a crib size color repeat version using the new Wildflower Wovens designed by Suzy Quilts for Art Gallery Fabrics and it is dreamy! I'm a longtime lover of wovens and I was so excited to try out these new fabrics. They have a great drape, a bigger width of fabric than most quilting cottons (around 55" WOF compared to the usual 43" - 44" WOF), and there was very little fraying which can be a common occurrence with other wovens. I backed this one with a plush blanket and this one has become my daughters new favorite quilt!

I'm so excited to share this Rainbow Hues quilt pattern with the world and I really hope you enjoy it! I can't wait to see all your colorful quilts soon!
